HDTV Help!

Q. Okay... So what's the deal with HDTV? Do I need to upgrade? Will I still get my local stations? Do I really have to spend that much on one of those expensive new TVs?

A. At present time our existing analog tv broadcast system is scheduled to be shut down in mid Feb 2009. What this means is that those of you who are presently receiving your tv signals via antenna system or rabbit ears, will at that time no longer have the ability to watch tv as you are now. Those of you watching with a cable box or via satellite will not see an interruption of service.

The digital system which has been in operation approx 24 months will yield both picture and sound many times the quality of the older analog system.

The digital system will provide signals of 480p-1080i. As of this writing there is no provision for a signal of 1080p in any broadcast, cable or satellite system.

Currently 1080p may only be seen with HD DVD, Blue Ray DVD and PS3 gaming systems.

Digital convertors, which will let you view the new system on existing sets, start at approx $150-160.

New HD sets with digital tuners start in the $800 price range and will give you startling improved picture and sound.

Feel free to stop in and discuss your options, or call with any questions.
